THIS picture of a summer’s day in 1966 or 1967, published in the Post on July 25, brought back many happy memories for Post reader Roslyn Heath – she is the girl on the left of the photograph enjoying an ice lolly.
At the time she was about six or seven and her mother worked on one of the greengrocers’ stalls in Petersfield, either Coles or Victor Mowatts, so Roslyn was often around The Square when she was growing up in the town and her first job was with Mr Mowatt.
She worked at Liptons for seven years before having her son then was in the school kitchen at Liss Infant School and now lives in Buriton. Among her other memories of town traders in her youth was ‘Fishy’ Arnett from whom she bought fish every Saturday.
