FOOTBALL and cricket were popular outdoor village sports played by West Meon villagers throughout the years but indoors at The Thomas Lord they would play dominoes, shove-halfpenny and darts.
Evenings could end with singing of the West Meon Anthem, quoted in Ron Stone’s book West Meon Remembered.
In the 1960s, Ron got the pub’s darts team into the Petersfield and District Darts League where they won the league title more than once and the Hospital Shield.
Among those who played were the men pictured. They were (left to right): Mick Rose, Peter Godman, Ron Stone, Ken Hiscock, Jim Turnbull, Bill Caunter, Des Mudkins, Don Tutt, Reg Archbold and Jack Wingrove.
