THREE organisations have been quick to show their support for a new initiative which promotes better understanding and awareness of dementia in Petersfield.

Dementia Friendly Petersfield was launched earlier this month by East Hampshire MP?Damian Hinds, supported by the Petersfield Post.

The aim of the scheme is to help people affected by dementia when they visit shops, businesses and other facilities in the town.

The three organisations to sign up to the scheme are the Tourist Information Office, which is based in the library in The Square; M&S in the High Street; and Boots The Chemist in the High Street.

Staff members who have signed up to take part in the scheme will now attend a one hour information session.

On completion of this, they will have greater awareness of dementia and better understanding of how they can help people suffering from the condition.
