THE ORGANISERS of a free traditional three course Christmas Day lunch for the elderly and those living alone, are keen to make sure no one misses out.
Hosted by a team from the Petersfield Area Churches Together (PACT) group, the annual lunch in Petersfield Community Centre is normally packed every year.
It is put on by volunteers who give up their Christmas Day to cook and serve the lunch, and clean up after it.
It is for elderly people who may not be able to cook, or those who have no one to enjoy the day with.
PACT lunch spokesman Isabel Chambers said: “We would appreciate everyone’s help in making sure that everyone in Petersfield is aware of this lovely lunch, so we can reach out with our invites to all those who would like to join us.”
The lunch is cooked by chef Marika Kyjovska, a congregation member at St Laurence Church in Station Road, Petersfield.
Isabel said: “She cooks an excellent traditional three course Christmas lunch, which has always been enjoyed and praised by guests at previous lunches.”
Waitrose and other Petersfield businesses have generously donated food and other Christmas goodies, so there is no charge for lunch guests, she added.
Isabel said: “We are able to arrange for guests to be collected from their homes before their lunch and taken to it, and to be taken back home afterwards.
“We don’t want anyone to miss out on this special event, and a lovely lunch.”
