PETERSFIELD Town Council has decided to mark out parking bays in its Love Lane car park.

Councillors were asked to consider introducing charges for the town centre parking area, which is currently free to use.

A?report to the town council’s grounds committee suggested a ticket machine could be installed, with charges introduced from 7am-6pm, with people given the first half hour free if they were dropping someone off.

A?maximum staying period was also considered by councillors at their meeting held on June 15. In the end councillors dropped the idea of introducing charges but agreed to go ahead with getting quotes for parking bays to be marked out.

Once the work is completed, the Love Lane site is expected to have more than 70 spaces available.
