AN ARCHITECT, who lives in Petersfield, is diversifying his creative talents into writing a series of books for young adults.
Julian Cheek’s first book, You Should Not Wake a Hibernating Puff-Adder, published in 2011, was a series of short stories inspired by his childhood growing up in South Africa.
Now, this week will see the publication of The Awakened – book one of the Ethereal Series.
Seventeen-year-old Sam is a normal teenager until an unexpected and cataclysmic event leaves his previously close and loving family in tatters. While his father and mother attempt to deal with their own grief, Sam is left on the sidelines alone and seemingly forgotten.
Believing that nobody would miss him if he just disappeared, Sam starts to escape into his self-created dream world called Muanga-Atua.
The result is a compulsive read for all those who battle every day with the simple task of just wanting to be heard.
Julian, who has two children, has worked for more than 30 years as an architect with major projects including Mercedes World, and most recently a high rise, Versace-branded residential building in London.
