A CONTROVERSIAL deal to demolish a closed care home in Petersfield and build new care accommodation in its place has collapsed.

The closure of Bulmer House care home off Ramshill was announced after a lengthy campaign by its supporters to save it.

Built in the 1970s on land donated by former Petersfield mayor Elsa Bulmer, the home is owned by Hampshire County Council, which agreed in December 2013 it should be closed and knocked down.

Despite hundreds of Petersfield residents signing a petition to keep it open, the closure went ahead....
