THE SUN shone on the righteous as hundreds of visitors to St Peter’s fete helped raise an incredible £4,161 for the Petersfield church.

Organisers were delighted with the proceeds of the hugely enjoyable event, which will be put towards the refurbishment of the community hall.

Said Tanya Heath of the fete committee:?“It was a wonderful day and the weather was extremely kind to us.

“The bouncy castle was a hit with the children, and the sausage and burger stall did a roaring trade all day.”

Children and adults alike enjoyed the facepainting and the have-a-go archery, and there were bargains galore on the book, plant and bric-a-brac stalls.

“The pile of cakes on the cake stall was truly impressive and showed how fond Petersfield people are of a good cake,” she added.

An “amazing contribution” would be made to the community hall fund, to be appreciated by many groups who meet there for years to come.
