A CHRISTMAS lunch hosted by Petersfield Cubs and Scouts saw 48 elderly diners enjoy a meal and carols.

Held in the United Reform church hall in College Street, the annual lunch was organised by the 1st Petersfield Scout Group.

Group spokesman Joanne Jones said it had been a great afternoon, enjoyed by both scouts and guests.

She added: “It is a free event for the elderly to come together, with free travel to the hall with the help of Age Concern drivers and the loan of the Bedales bus.

“Our guests were served a cooked afternoon meal by Paula and her team, with entertainment from the Cubs and Scouts.

“This is our second year at the United Reform Church, which is an excellent venue for such an event, and we had great financial support from Waitrose which helps us to run such an event.”
