LOCAL energy groups from Petersfield and Winchester attended a social media workshop run by East Hampshire District Council (EHDC).
Led by council staff, the workshop helped attendees to find out how to use social media to engage with customers.
Topics included the principles of using social media to boost your organisation, best practice advice and some basic dos and don’ts. Further discussion centred on how to effectively engage with customers through social media.
Held on Tuesday, September 13, at the council offices in Penns Place, Petersfield, the event came after following discussions at the previous Energy Community Forum which involved local community organisations and associations.
Digital Content Manager, Christopher Blower, presented to the group using examples of EHDC social media campaigns to demonstrate how to use the medium to its full potential.
Each attendee set a personal “social media” goal linking with their new-found knowledge and agreed to feed-back successes and challenges to the council.
Councillor Adam Carew, Portfolio Holder for Environment, said: "This was a superb and highly informative workshop.
“We looked at a number of ways for community based environmental champions to use social media to build interest and support for local projects in East Hampshire; such as renewable energy, biodiversity and local food initiatives.”
