RESIDENTS, businesses and organisations have until July 1 to put forward their blooming marvellous flowers and garden displays for this year’s Petersfield in Bloom competition.
There are 13 categories in the annual contest, which is run by Petersfield Town Council and open to all properties in Petersfield.
These are the environmental award, street/part of street, front garden on a residential property, basket/container on a residential property, retail frontage, public house/restaurant/cafe or guest house, unusual container for juniors up to year 11, school/youth garden project, residential home/nursing home or sheltered housing, public service building or area/places of worship, unusual container for residential or commercial properties and the Jenny Turner Award.
The judging date this year will be on July 13 and a prizegiving evening will be held on October 13, at the Festival Hall.
The awards evening is open to all entrants and other members of the public to attend.
Awards will be presented by television gardener Pippa Greenwood.
The judging criteria will be the general scheme and use of site potential, all-round visual impact, design and presentation, quality, health and vigour of plants, standard of maintenance and environmental awareness.
