THE REMAINING Harvest Festival food donations brought into Petersfield Infants School by pupils have been donated to the towns’ food bank.

Most of the food was sold back to families after a harvest festival assembly, led by the vicar of St Peters church, the Reverend Will Hughes, and the rest went to the food bank.

School deputy head teacher Allyson Carew said: “Children brought in all sorts of produce for our harvest this year from pumpkins to pasta.

“During the afternoon assembly each year group sang songs and read poems, and afterward the new Year two school councillors did a sterling job of selling food back to the families.

“£240 was raised and it will be split between Fitzroy On-Track in Petersfield and CHECT (the Children’s Eye Cancer Trust).

“All the left-over food was taken by some of our Year R children to the food bank at St Peters Church.”
