PETERSFIELD residents just have until the end of the month to comment on plans to close the town’s job centre.
The move was revealed by the Post on Wednesday, February 1, and the consultation deadline is February 28, says the Department of Works and Pensions (DWP).
Under the DWP proposal services and staff at the JobCentre Plus in Chapel Street will move to Havant job centre in Elmleigh Road.
The lease on the privately owned building is due to end, and the DWP is keen to cut rental costs by relocating.
A JobCentre Plus spokesman said: “We are looking for residents views on proposal to close and relocate the office to Havant.”
A final decision is due in six months, with any move completed by March 31, 2018.
