PETERSFIELD Lions Club has presented three cheques of £287 each to town charities after holding two well-attended fundraising quiz nights.

Jim Apted was pleased to receive a cheque on behalf of FitzRoy, which provides supported living for people with learning disabilities.

Cader MacPhail, of Challengers of Guildford, a charity which organises inclusive play and leisure activities for disabled children and young people in Surrey and East Hampshire, also collected a donation.

Home-start Butser, of Winton House in Petersfield High Street, a charity which supports young families and lone parents struggling to cope, was also a beneficiary.

Lions Club president Dave Read said the three charities were just some of the organisations the club was helping this year, with its bigger annual campaigns such as Spec-Trek, which sees thousands of unused spectacles collected and shipped to Third World countries.

He added: “Petersfield Lions would like to thank everyone for their support at the quiz nights.”
