DESPITE the continuing snow and the forecast of more to come, some Petersfield residents determined to remain cheerful and carry on as normal.
A litter picking event due to start at 9.30am tomorrow (March 2) is still get to go ahead says organiser Katherine Ellis-Blandford.
She said: “Petersfield Pickers will still meet in Petersfield Square by the statue to obtain their equipment, hopefully we should have enough.
“Petersfield Town Council has agreed to support this event and as such full bags can be put in or beside their marked dustbins for collection.
“You can of course put the rubbish together with your own refuse if you wish or alternatively take to the Petersfield Town Hall on Heath Road for collection by Idverdi (the company who have supplied the equipment) the week after the event.”
Those who can’t make the initial meet can collect litter pickers, high visibility jackets and bin bags from Petersfield Library between 9am and 5pm on Friday and Saturday.
And bringing a bit of ‘chippy’ cheer to a snowy day was Tim Kane of Sea and Spud fish and chip shop in Sheep Street, who offered free cod and chips to mark the release of the new ten pence coins.
He said: “The first five customers who brings one of the new coins showing fish and chips into the shop today (March 1) will get a free small cod and chips.”
