PETERSFIELD Museum curator Kathrin Pierin exhibited artifacts with a royal connection to celebrate the 90th birthday of the Queen.

As well as displaying the pieces held in the collection of the town museum which had a royal link, she spoke about their history and background as part of Saturday’s events to mark the occasion.

One item on display in the museum off St Peters Road was stockings which are believed to have belonged to Queen Victoria and which bear her monogram. Also among the artifacts was a brick marking the coronation of Edward VII found locally.

Entry to the museum off St Peter’s Road and the Flora Twort Gallery in Church Walk was free for the day, as were the events put on for visitors.

Organisers of the special royal event say it was a success and they are now planning two more free Saturdays for visitors later in the year, with special events which will be announced in due course.
