PETERSFIELD Police are reminding everyone to remain vigilant over Christmas.

Petersfield based Police Community Support officer for East Hampshire Toby Mason said:"Christmas posses many opportunities for criminals so it is important to safeguard yourselves, your property and to remain vigilant against crime.

"Please ensure that you are not leaving any presents/valuables visible either in vehicles, inside your property or inside out-houses or out-buildings. This can be an advertisement to any potential thief.

"When out Christmas shopping please keep handbags zipped up and wallets and purses somewhere safe on you and ensure they are not visible.

"If you are buying high value items such as a bike or mobile phone or a laptop then please register them at www.immobilise.com.

"We advise you not to buy any goods from door-to-door salesman and do not give out any personal or financial information to anyone you do not know whether face to face or over the telephone.
