SHE was all fired up for the final – but Petersfield’s Sally-Jo Bond was pipped at the wheel in the BBC’s The Great Pottery Throw Down.

Self-confessed underdog in the search for Britain’s top home potter, the 33-year-old gave it her all in the clay-off final on Tuesday night.

But in the end she came second to Matthew Wilcock, a 23-year-old art teacher from North Yorkshire.

And she was the last woman standing in the competition which saw ten potters take on tough ceramic challenges, making 500 items between them and sparking interest in the craft around the country.
