GIVING a whole new meaning to pebble-dashed is a delightful display at Petersfield Physic Garden.

Children from Petersfield Infant School decorated hundreds of pebbles in class and these have now been placed in the knot garden area.

The youngsters were very excited and proud to visit the Art in the Physic Garden exhibition, which is in place until Friday, April 21, to see their handiwork.

It was the idea of theatre designer Vicki Ostersen, of Petersfield, who worked with the pupils to create two pebbles apiece, one a self-portrait in pens and one painted.

Physic Garden chairman Brian Robinson welcomed the young visitors and said how lovely it was to have the work of some of the town’s youngest citizens in the garden alongside the horticultural talents of some of its oldest.

Layla (6) said she thought the colourful display was “amazing and wonderful”. And classmate Haze (5) said he had painted one of his pebbles in pink, yellow and red.

The exhibition was sponsored by Henry Adams estate agents.
