BANISHING any bank holiday blues once again is the ever popular Spring Festival which brings crowds to Petersfield over three days.

A great line-up of live music, a host of stalls lining the streets, children’s entertainment and vintage vehicles are some of the attractions today (Saturday), tomorrow (Sunday) and Monday.

The Square will be at the centre of the event, organised by Hometown Festivals, with a stage for performers and a Festival Bar with quality local ales and ciders on tap.

Organisers Ben Errey and Steve Jacob have pulled out all the stops to bring top acts to the festival to entertain the hordes, with the music starting at 7pm tonight (Saturday).

“Once again, the Petersfield Spring Festival boasts a music line-up that is absolutely amazing for a free-to-enter event,” they said.

“We pride ourselves on booking the best established and up-and-coming acts we can to entertain you all, and this spring is no exception.”

Headlining on Saturday is Rehab Blues, a Hampshire-based band that plays jazz, blues and soul.

Fans of 80s music will be delighted with the Sunday night headliner – Duran Duran tribute band DURAN2, offering pop gold.

Evoking the sound of original girl band The Supremes, Timeless top the bill on Monday evening, bringing sounds of the 60s and 70s.

Other acts include: Devin Jade, COLLyde, Rock Choir, Amy Baker, Emmay, The Bayonettes, Komaro, and Southerlies.

The Solent Renegrade Car Club will be displaying a gleaming range of American and classic vehicles, alongside some hot rods, on Sunday, from 10am to 4pm.

Vintage enthusiasts can also admire a collection of steam engines and other vehicles on Monday, from 10a, to 4pm.

Children are well catered for, with traditional rides including a carousel, facepainting and free drama, dance and singing workshops from 11am to 4pm on Sunday and Monday.

Animal Magic is bringing back its petting zoo, with creatures ranging from the cute and cuddly to scary spiders and snakes.

Children’s entertainer Strawberry Dan will be providing fun and laughter for youngsters on the hour, from 11am to 3pm, on Sunday and Monday.

There will be music from the Salvation Band at 11am on the main stage on Sunday, followed by a church service.
