AN ARTIST has produced a painting of Petersfield Square as a gift to the town’s bowling and snooker club.
Alan Cosh (72), is a retired architect and has taken up painting as a hobby during his retirement.
“I do a lot of painting in France because we’ve got a house there and the light is good,” he said. “I have painted all sorts of things. Every city that we have been to since I retired, I have painted.”
That includes New York, Amsterdam, Prague, Venice and Paris. But recently, Mr Cosh, from Steep, decided he would take on a new challenge. He is a member of Petersfield Bowling and Snooker Club in St Peters Road and decided to paint something for the club to put in their lounge.
The watercolour painting is a metre long panoramic view of the Square. “I have seen quite a lot of paintings of The Square but I haven’t seen one that long with a panoramic view,” he added.
“I love my town. We have been here for 22 years now.
“It’s one of the longest paintings I have done. It took me about three to four weeks, on and off.”
The original painting will be presented at the club’s annual general meeting on December 5. A limited number of copies will be available to buy, by contacting 07710551722.
