MORE THAN 100 students from The Petersfield School successfully navigated their way along the South Downs during a two-day expedition.

The 110 Year 11 students trekked more than 20km, camping out overnight in training for their Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) silver award expedition after their GCSE exams.

The final leg of their DoE awards in June, will see them taking part in hiking and kayaking expeditions in the New Forest and Chichester Harbour.

A school spokesman said: “They demonstrated great leadership skills on their hike, and have spent the last six months completing physical, skill and volunteering aspects of the award while studying for their exams, a tremendous achievement.”
