TWENTY-one Petersfield Twinning Association members spent what was a gloriously sunny May bank holiday weekend in Barentin, Petersfield’s French twin town in Normandy.
During their visit over the weekend of Saturday, May 5, the group, including four new association members, visited the former Benedictine Abbaye de Boscherville, and the Muséoseine – the museum of the River Seine.
Twinning association chairman David Jeffery said: “We arrived at and departed from Barentin’s dedicated twinning bar, ‘Le Warendorf,’ which is named after the German town Petersfield and Barentin is also twinned with.
“The bank holiday visit to Barentin was, by general consensus, a highly successful trip, with one complete day devoted to ourselves with our hosts, thereby guaranteeing satisfaction in small numbers at a variety of venues.
“Each of us will have had a special highlight, but there is no doubt that the ancient Abbaye with its Romanesque style and its extensive gardens with a panoramic view of the Seine valley below, will be remembered for many a year.”
