A PETERSFIELD mother and daughter due to visit a refugee camp near Dunkirk in France say they have been so overwhelmed with sleeping bags and other donated items they could do with a van.
Lesley Redmayne, of Heath Road, and Bedales pupil Maisy (15) plan to visit the camp from April 9-15.
Lesley said: “Local people and Maisy’s friends at Bedales have been so generous, we need a van to get it all to the camp.”
The pair have volunteered to help children at a small school on the new purpose-built camp, home to thousands of mainly Syrian and Iraqi refugees, who moved there from a muddy camp with no proper facilities in woods opposite a housing estate in Dunkirk.
