BRONX-born Leah Cohen, organiser of Petersfield Write Angle, is in despair at Trump’s ascendancy to power.

“Although I love my homeland, I am ashamed and embarrassed that my American countrymen voted Trump in,” said Leah, a Petersfield resident who has lived in this country for 31 years. She has dual citizenship so was able to vote in the presidential election.

“I hate him. He’s bringing out the alt-rights from all corners and causing racial prejudices. It’s affecting Europe as well,” said Leah, who is joining an anti-Trump banner protest at the Bell Hill Bridge over the A3 on Friday (January 20), at 11am.

This ‘Bridges Not Walls’ protest is part of a national campaign on the day of Trump’s inauguration as President.

“Young white men see him as a Superman. A Mr Fix-it. Old people want the world as it was in the 1950s. Your Tennessee rednecks see him as the man who will ‘make America great again.’

“He is a businessman who only wants power and money. He is dangerous as Commander in Chief of the armed forces. He terrifies me as he’s unpredictable and capable of anything, including starting a war. This man is not fit to be president.”

She was worried too about hard fought abortion rights.
