THERE was much excitement in the classrooms at Petersfield Infant School as World Book Day provided a real page-turner for children and staff.

Pupils and teachers dressed up to celebrate the international event to encourage reading and the costumes were colourful and imaginative. A minion, skeletons, Harry Potter, superheroes and a Where’s Wally were some of the characters chosen from favourite books which included Funnybones, Roald Dahl’s Matilda, Harry Potter and Disney and fairy tales.

Parents, family members and friends were invited to school in St Peters Road, Petersfield, to read stories, and a bedtime story reading challenge was held with the children receiving stickers for completing a week of reading before bedtime. A generous donation of books for the school library were given by Henry Adams estate agent at a special assembly.
