A new brewery launched by a Farnham-based pub owner and an existing tenant of Pierrepont Farm in Frensham has been lined up by the Countryside Regeneration Trust (CRT) to take on farm’s outgoing Craft Brews brewery and tap room.
The ‘Farnham Brewing Co’ is understood to be taking on the unit at Pierrepont Farm, after the CRT exercised a landlord’s break notice to oust Craft Brews owner Joe Wood at the end of November.
Listed as directors of Farnham Brewing Co are David Bevan, who lives in Lower Bourne and owns a bar in Balham and a pub near Tower Bridge, Pierrepont-based Finntage Interiors owner Ilkka Martikainen, and another Lower Bourne man Andrew Muggeridge.
The CRT confirmed a new brewery tenant had already been lined up last week. But the charity is believed to have been in contact with Farnham Brewing Co since at least July.
Farnham Brewing Co first appeared at the Bourne Show in June, supplying beer it had commissioned from Belleville Brewing Co in London at cost price to the show organisers, plus £1,000 worth as a charitable donation.
And in August, director Mr Bevan posted an advert for a head brewer job on the UK Craft Beer & Beverages Jobs Facebook page.
He said: “Opening in 2023 we are looking for a head brewer, to help start up a brand new brewery based in Farnham, Surrey. The role could be as a partnership if you invest or as an employee.
“You would need to have good knowledge of how to brew great craft pales, IPAs, lager. For the local market, onsite tap room bar and London pubs.
“We would need advice in acquiring all new brewer equipment and set up of all aspects of brewing and logistics.
“If this sounds like something you would like to get your teeth into and potentially own a share in a new business, please DM me.”
The Herald understands Farnham Brewing Co will serve beer and food at its new Pierrepont Farm premises seven days a week, subject to Waverley Borough Council approving its licence.
Craft Brews typically opened three days a week, Friday to Sunday, with pizzas sold from a mobile van on Saturdays.
