LISS residents expressed their concerns about plans for 77 homes in the village at a public meeting.

CALA Homes has applied to build on land north east of Andlers Ash Nursery, Andlers Ash Road, Liss.

Liss Parish Council’s planning committee organised a public meeting at the village hall on Monday, February 12, so residents could express their views on the proposals.

Among the concerns raised by those people who attended were highways issues, including traffic on Andlers Ash Road, drainage, the proposed access to the two sites, lack of on-site parking, ecology, the design, lighting, the position of the play area, landscaping, where construction traffic will park and bin and cycle storage.

Parish councillors were also told to defend the Liss Neighbourhood Plan.

The site is earmarked as potential development land in the Liss Neighbourhood Plan, and the parish council has until March 14 to make its comments.

Liss Parish Council chairman Roger Hargreaves said: “There are 76 houses allocated for the site in the neighbourhood plan, so there will be houses there.

“We are not opposed to the principle of development on the site, but it needs to respect the neighbourhood plan.

“There are highways issues and drainage is also an issue, and the site boundary needs to be what is in the neighbourhood plan.

“We want the footpath to the school to have a refuge on either side of Hill Brow Road, and the green space needs to be publicly accessible and not just for people living at the site.”

Anyone who would like to view the plans should visit the South Downs National Park Authority’s planning website at: www.southdowns.gov.uk/planning and search for the planning reference number assigned to the application: SDNP/17/06506/FUL.
