EAST Meon residents are invited to an open morning for their first view of the draft neighbourhood development plan for the village.

The free event in the village hall marks the start of a six week consultation on the document.

Plan steering group members will be there to answer questions and clarify issues.

East Meon parish councillor and steering group spokesman Dominic Carney said: “All comments will be considered and at the end of the consultation period any necessary amendments to the draft document will be made.

“It will then go to the South Downs National Park Authority for consultation and feedback.”

Any changes suggested by the park authority will be considered, and if appropriate included in the plan.

There will then be a last consultation, before residents will decide at a referendum later this year or in early 2017 if the document should be adopted.

The draft, and comment forms, will be available at the open morning tomorrow (Saturday) from 9am to noon.

The draft plan can also be viewed at www.eastmeon.org until Saturday, June 4.
