THE PUBLIC examination of the Liss Neighbourhood Plan document has been held.
The examination was held last Friday in the village hall and included talks by members of the Liss Neighbourhood Plan steering group, the South Downs National Park Authority and a developer.
The neighbourhood plan steering group was represented by Sir John Dunt, Liss Parish Council chairman Roger Hargreaves, and parish councillors Sue Halstead and Angela Wright.
Liss Parish Council vice-chairman Keith Budden said: “Overall it went very well. As far as we could tell the planning inspector was satisfied with the answers.
“The representatives of the Liss Neighbourhood Plan were very good, as well as the South Downs National Park officers. The developer for the Upper Green site was also there and spoke.
“The planning inspector went around the sites the day before the examination on his own. He had a couple of comments but he seemed to be satisfied.
“The planning inspector was very precise with his questions and he was good at making people stick to the point.
“We will now wait for the planning inspector’s report.
“There is no indication on how long it will take for the report to be written, but I think we will probably have it by the end of the summer.
“Overall I’m very pleased with the outcome and it is another hurdle cleared.
“We are not expecting it to throw up any conundrums, and it should be straight forward going forward.
“We will then arrange the referendum. I think we’re looking at having the referendum in October. Certainly we’re very keen to have the referendum this year.
“The sooner the plan is approved the sooner we can have it in place. We will then be able to approve and refuse sites with certainty and there will be no real grounds for appeal if a site is not in the neighbourhood plan.”
