East Hampshire District Council planning committee is set to approve an application by Churcher’s College for a car park on the school playing field.

At its meeting on January 9, council planning officers are recommending the proposal to install reinforced mesh on the field for cars to park on is approved, so building contractors working on the Goodfield Centre project can use the existing school car park.

Once the building work is finished, it is proposed the mesh car park then becomes a permanent one.

The entrance to the new car park will be off Love Lane, and opposite the entrance to the existing public Love Lane car park, already used by college students.

The committee – which meets at Penns Place at 6pm – will hear people living in Love Lane and roads off it are concerned about the increase in cars using the narrow lane.
