They may have long disappeared from cinema screens but the Barbenheimer battle still rages on in Bordon judging by plans to revamp The Phoenix Theatre and Arts Centre.

An exhibition was recently held at the Station Road venue to gauge comments on a major refurbishment.

The biggest talking point was the colour of a possible new entrance canopy, with Barbie pink or Oppenheimer army green dividing opinion.

Minor changes will be made over the coming months with repairs to the roof, electrics and plumbing all planned along with an overhaul of the auditorium.

The canopy is the most visible part of the revamp but the real focus is on improving accessibility, with entrance improvements and a lift installation all part of the plans, funded by close to half a million pounds of developer contributions.

“We’re giving the building a lift,” said Richard Witcher of Witcher Crawford Architects.
