ONE HUNDRED years ago Flora Thompson, author of Lark Rise to Candleford, arrived in Liphook, where she was to spend the next 12 of her 70 years as the postmaster’s wife.

To commemorate her time in the area, a group of actors will perform the play Lark Rise at six venues in East Hampshire and West Surrey during July.

The tour is being organised as a community event by Headley Theatre Club, and they are on the look out for anyone who is interested in becoming involved in the production.

An open evening will be held on Thursday, April 28, at Headley Village Hall, starting at 8pm. A read through of the script will be followed by the director and producer answering questions and explaining details of the project.

Auditions for cast members will follow a week later.

There are 17 male and seven female parts to be filled, with ages ranging from eight to 80. Volunteers to help with music, backstage and other non-acting roles will also be welcome.
