ARTISTS from Petersfield and the surrounding areas have been showcasing their best work at a popular annual exhibition in the town.

The Petersfield Arts and Crafts Society held the event at the Festival Hall for six days from August 23-28.

Founded in 1934, the society has a respected and long-established history of presenting an exhibition, offering a varied array of artistic pieces for visitors to admire.

The group’s members include amateur and professional artists across a wide age range and a wide spectrum of artistic activities.

Work on show at this year’s exhibition included watercolours, oil and acrylic paintings, textiles, ceramics, sculptures, wood work and jewellery.

Each year the exhibition welcomes buyers from near and far who return regularly to browse and buy from the 600 plus works on display.

George Spear, chairman of the Petersfield Arts and Crafts Society, said:?“We have a lot of visitors from a long way away. It brings people in. Every year it (the event) evolves. A lot of people have said that they like it.

“They walk in and there’s a favourable openness to the exhibition. There was a very high level of work this year. That has been reflected in the public interest.”
