POLICE called to an early morning disturbance in Petersfield say they are still investigating the incident.

The incident in a house at the junction of Station Road, Oaklands Road, and Winchester Road began as children were passing by on their way to school.

Police were called as the incident in the mid terrace house allegedly escalated.

A police spokesman said: “We were called at 9.36am today (Thursday, September 2) to an address in Station Road, Petersfield.

“Officers were deployed to the address following reports of a disturbance there.”

A witness said three police cars, a police 4x4 vehicle, a police van, and about six uniformed officers arrived at the terrace to deal in response to the call out.

At one point a man was led from the house on to the driveway where he was searched, and then placed in the police van.

Another man who came out of the terrace, was seen making phone calls from the pavement.

Neither man seemed to be injured, or angry, the witness added.

The officers who had been on duty across the district, remained at the scene for about an hour.

The officers left at around 10.45am.

On Tuesday, September 7, the police spokesman added: “The incident is still under investigation.”
