POLICE have released a CCTV picture of two women they would like to interview about a purse theft in a Petersfield supermarket

The distraction theft happened at about 3pm on Saturday, March 18, in the Tesco store off The Causeway.

A 72-year-old woman was shopping in the store when she noticed a woman brushing up against her.

A few minutes later she noticed her purse, which she had placed in her handbag in her trolley, was missing.

The purse contained £60 in cash and bank cards.

The first woman, thought to be in her late teens, or early 20s, is described as, white, about 5ft eight inches tall, with dark hair and two pony tails.

She was wearing a black baseball cap, a long, grey jacket with a daffodil pin, blue jeans and white trainers, and carrying a basket of goods.

The second woman, thought to be in her 80s, is described as being 5ft six inches tall, and wearing a dark coat, leopard print scarf, brown beanie hat and glasses

Police Constable David Tester said: “Do you recognise these two women, as we would like to speak to them about this incident?”
