POLICE are appealing for witnesses after an alleged road rage incident on the A272 between Langrish and the West Meon cross road junction.
It took place on the westbound carriageway at about 4.30pm on Wednesday, December 14.
The victim, a 46-year-old man, said he was driving a silver Vauxhall Astra when he noticed a white Ford Transit van being driven close behind him.
The van then overtook the Vauxhall Astra and slowed so that both vehicles stopped.
After both drivers got out of their vehicles, the van driver assaulted the Astra driver. He then got a metal scaffolding pole from his van and used it to smash a window and wing mirror of the Astra car.
The “stocky” van driver with “crew cut style hair” is described as, white, about 5ft 8ins tall, in his late 30s to early 40s, and wearing a hooded top
Police Constable Lee Gott said: “This incident took place on a busy road late in the afternoon. We would like anyone who saw what took place to contact us as soon as possible.”
