LISS Parish Council chairman Keith Budden was re-elected to the role at the council’s annual meeting.

Cllr Budden was unanimously re-elected unopposed at the meeting on Monday, May 16.

He will now serve his fourth and final year as chairman of the council.

Cllr Budden said: “It is a relief and I would personally love to see the West Liss pavilion come to fruition during my time as that has been on the agenda for my whole term of office.

“It should be an interesting year, and I would also like to see some new play equipment installed.”

Vice-chairman Cllr Mike Kendall announced he was stepping down from the council due to personal reasons, and Cllr Rob Evans has left the council after failing to attend the required number of meetings.

Cllr Budden paid tribute to Cllr Kendall for his work on the council, which includes his work on the West Liss pavilion and the Liss Flood Action Group.

“I am very sad to see Cllr Kendall step down,” he said.

“He has put a tremendous amount of effort in over the last 18 months leading the West Liss pavilion project, and he has kindly agreed to continue to lead the flood action group.

“We will miss him, and his direct link to East Hampshire District Council and his legal background were both very helpful for us.

“I understand his personal reasons and I wish him and his family well.”

Cllr Roger Hargreaves was elected as the new vice-chairman of the council.

“I think he is a superb choice as vice-chairman,” said Cllr Budden.

“He has proved that he is a very effective councillor, and he has done a superb job with the neighbourhood plan.”
