THE EUROPEAN Union (EU) referendum polling station in Liss suffered a gas pipe leak on Wednesday.

And Liss Village Hall caretaker Tim Pay was concerned it could lead to the polling station not opening yesterday (Thursday), although in the end it was able to open as usual.
Tim said: “The gas pipe had fractured and the hall smelt of gas and it was a definite gas leak.
“There was a race against time to get it sorted before the election, and a team came up from Gosport to fix it.”
