EAST Hampshire district councillors for Liss Mike Kendall and Laetitia Pienaar have handed out grants to good causes in the village.
Liss Area Historical Society (LAHS), Home-Start Butser and Liss Parish Council are among the groups which have received grants.
Cllr Kendall said: “Laetitia and I are new district councillors and we have enjoyed the process of meeting clubs, societies and organisations and seeing how we can help.
“We can give up to £1,000 per project per councillor, and I would urge groups to get in touch for the new financial year.”
Cllr Kendall awarded a £530 grant to LAHS for its exhibition later this year.
LAHS chairman Ron McCann said: “Our exhibition is about gems from your archives, and it will run from Wednesday, August 17, to Tuesday, August 23. We will show the stuff we’ve got and we hope it will be of interest.
“Usually our exhibitions last for one day, but this money has enabled us to have a longer exhibition, which is a big change for us.
“The exhibition will be open from 9am to lunchtime every day, and there will be an opening social event at 8pm on August 17.”
Cllr Kendall gave a £500 grant to Petersfield-based Home-Start Butser, which is going towards training more volunteers in both Liss and Petersfield to support families with young children.
Home-Start Butser co-ordinator Ann Richardson said: “This grant will hopefully allow us to train ten volunteers at the Triangle, Liss.
“They will be on an 11-week course, and then they will be able to work with families in the area. We already supporting a number of families in Liss, and we have in excess of ten volunteers in Liss working for us.”
Cllr Kendall and Cllr Pienaar each gave £1,000 grants to Liss Parish Council for disabled toilets to go in the village hall.
Liss Parish Council chairman Keith Budden said: “The disabled toilet will go between the kitchen and the ladies’ toilets.
“It is a welcome addition for the village hall, and it has been needed for a long time.”
