WITH the referendum on the European Union fast approaching, East Hampshire District Council is urging residents to register to vote by the June 7 deadline.

They should consult to a voting guide delivered to every household in East Hampshire over the last week by the Electoral Commission.

This contains information on how to register to vote, how to cast votes, and arguments from lead campaigners for the ‘remain’ and ‘leave’ sides.

The referendum will take place on Thursday, June 23.

East Hampshire’s returning officer Sandy Hopkins said: “I would urge everyone to vote in this vital referendum. This is a hugely important decision for the people of the UK and we should all play our part in it.

“Don’t forget that you won’t be able to have a say if you haven’t registered to vote by the June 7 deadline.”
