East Hampshire polling stations and those across Hampshire are now closed in the Hampshire County Council elections.

The first ballot boxes from polling stations in Petersfield arrived at the Festival Hall off Heath Road in Petersfield at about 10.15pm.

The votes will be counted by East Hampshire District Council (EHDC) staff; the council is managing the election in the district on behalf of the county council.

It is hoped the East Hampshire results will be announced around 2am, said an EHDC spokesman.
