A man has been charged in connection with a burglary in the Horndean area.

Police investigating a break-in on Catherington Lane on June 12 have charged Andrew Smith with two counts of burglary and theft.

The other count relates to a burglary in Swanwick, near Fareham, on June 17 with jewellery and cash being stolen during both incidents.

The 40-year-old of Walmer Road, Portsmouth, is due to appear at Portsmouth Crown Court on August 17 having been remanded in custody.

In a separate incident, East Hampshire Police have also confirmed that drugs and paraphernalia linked to drug supply were seized from a house on Merchistoun Road in Horndean last Friday (July 17).

A 34-year-old from Horndean was arrested and later released with enquiries ongoing.
