PREPARATIONS are on track for this year’s Liphook charity bike ride.

After putting up the signs in the village the Liphook Crankers, who are organising the ride, did the traditional member’s ride to check the route last weekend – two weeks before the ride on Sunday, June 11.

The aim was to check out the route conditions and any safety issues and while a few potholes have been reported to the county council the roads are reported to be in good condition for the ride.

The start and finish will be at Bohunt School, and the start time will be 10am, with the junior ride at 10.30am.

More than 200 riders have already signed up via the online registration on the Liphook Bike Ride website.

People who have entered online can collect their number on the day or at the pre-ride registration at the Millennium Hall from 9am to noon on Saturday, June 10.

Riders will also be able to register on the day.

This year 2260 Squadron Air Cadets from Waterlooville will be giving support for car parking on the playing field and Liphook Guides will once again be providing the three refreshment stops on the route, while many other charities will be present with stalls and facilities to add to the atmosphere.

Barons of Hindhead, Spire Hospital Havant and Bohunt School are the main sponsors for the ride this year, and Owens Cycles of Petersfield will provide technical support for the bike ride.

Liphook bike ride chairman Alistair Halliday said: “We are pleased to report we are all on track for the ride and most grateful for the offers of support we have received.

“It promises to be a superb day once again and as always such a great event for the village to be involved in.

“If anyone wants to be a marshal on the day please get in touch. We encourage as many riders as possible to collect their numbers either the day before at the pre-ride registration or arrive in good time on the day so as to keep queues to a minimum.”

The junior ride for those under 12 years old will take place on the playing field at Bohunt School. The Crankers have also bought a new gazebo with funds from East Hampshire District Council.
