THERE is a celebratory end to the year at Priors Dean Vineyard where more success is being toasted.

A gold medal has been awarded to the 2015 Flint Hill Dry wine by the prestigious Wessex Area Vineyards annual competition.

The results came through last week (December 8) with Priors Dean owner Pam Morley delighted.

“Our 2015 Flint Hill Dry has been very popular this year at shows and wine tastings but had not yet been entered for any competitions. The wines are judged by experts and as some of the most prestigious vineyards are in this area, I was very pleased to get the news it had been awarded a gold medal.”

Pam is no stranger to awards though as last year her medium dry 2014 Beech Hanger Gold picked up a silver medal in the same competition, and a bronze in the national finals.

She said the success was down to her winemaker and the volunteers who help with pruning and picking of grapes each year at the vineyard situated on slopes between Selborne and Hawkley.

The first working parties for volunteers are on Sunday, January 8, and Sunday, January 22. A start is made at 9.30am and the session finishes at lunchtime.

The 2015 Flint Hill Dry and the 2014 Beech Hanger Gold are available to buy at stores including Durleighmarsh Farm Shop, Rogate, East Tilsted Post Office Stores, Meonstoke Stores, South Harting Stores and Selborne Post Office Stores.
