ANCIENT Egypt came to life in a thrilling workshop for the Year 3 children at Brookham School in Liphook.

Firstly, they became archaeologists and were enthralled to discover hidden inside a chest the Rosetta Stone; a hugely important artefact that held the key to understanding Egyptian hieroglyphs.

Next they transformed themselves into Ancient Egyptians, dressed for their part they acted out roles as scribes, slaves, soldiers, the High Priestess and Pharoah.

Finally, the children learnt about the different aspects of mummification.

The opening of the mouth ceremony was vital to the successful transition of the dead to the afterlife and the children had great fun re-enacting this ceremony as dancers, musicians, High Priestess and not to forget the mummified Rameses.
