THERE were plenty of pleased pooches at Queen Elizabeth Country Park last Friday as a new outdoor activity trail for dogs was put through its paces.

Around 30 dogs and their owners braved the wet conditions to try out the new facility next to the Windmill View car park.

Helen Hitchings, who runs a variety of dog obedience classes in and around the beauty spot, was pleased with the response.

She said: “It’s not an agility course and the idea is not to run the dog over it as fast as possible but to get them active.”

The course, which is within the Forts and Fleet project, has been created as part of a bid to make the country park more attractive for dogs and their owners.
