Royal Air Force personnel were delighted to welcome the founder of Petersfield’s Hounds for Heroes charity and his assistance dog to RAF Cranwell.
Hounds for Heroes of Ramsdean was founded by wheelchair- bound Royal Navy veteran Allen Parton, who visited Cranwell with his golden Labrador ET (Endal Three).
The charity provides assistance dogs to armed forces personnel who have suffered life-changing injuries.
While at Cranwell, Wing Commander Ali Morton, Officer Commanding Base Support Wing, presented Allen with a cheque for £2,500.
Wg Cmdr Morton said: “It is to sponsor a new assistance dog puppy to be called Cranwell.
“Hounds for Heroes is one of our chosen charities for 2022 – it was great to welcome Allen again and meet his new assistance dog ET.”
Allen added: “The original ethos of the charity was that the serving and ex-service armed forces community would support their injured and disabled colleagues, so visits like this really do take on a huge poignancy.
“Having the RAF standing shoulder to shoulder with us on our charity mission enables us to create more life-enhancing partnerships with one of our dogs.”
