RAKE Primary School held a street party last Friday afternoon (June 10) to celebrate the Queen’s 90th birthday.

The party was at the end of a mix-up week of activities at the school, with a focus on the Queen’s birthday.

Rake Primary School headteacher David Bertwistle said: “The street party was the culmination of the week. The children took part in art projects which had a royal theme, and everybody got the opportunity to do lots of things. Every group made some food, and we had plenty of sandwiches, jelly and cakes. A group of parents also played fitting regal music.

“The children played lots of games and the party finished with everyone singing the National Anthem. A great time was had by all and we were lucky that the weather held.

“Our mix-up weeks are very important as the children get to work in mixed age groups, and the care and support the children offer to each other is terrific.”
