PETERSFIELD Ramblers enjoyed the final official planned walk of the season led by chairman Gordon Watts and his wife Hilary.

Club secretary Sheila Gadd said: “More than 20 of us – and two dogs – met at Newman Collard playing field in Liss on December 15.

“The walk leaders came in Christmas jumpers and hats, and Rose had a bit of tinsel in her rucksack, but the rest of us should have been more festive looking!”

They then completed a seven-mile walk round Liss that included a bit of the Shipwrights Way, crossed fields, went along Mint Road and through wooded land up to Rake, crossed the B2030 to Rake Hanger for a coffee and ‘banana’ break, before arriving in the chairman’s garden.

Sheila added: “Hot steaming cups of tea and coffee and a huge tray of mince pies appeared, all served in the garden.

“It was a very nice social gathering, safe in the open air.

“Before heading home we wished each other a good festive season, but no hugs of course. A lovely, social moment. Merry Christmas to everyone from the ramblers!”
